Assets and networks

Understand Canton Party IDs, token identity and the difference between total and available balances.

Canton is the receiving network

The Wallet Receive screen provides a Canton Party ID. Use it for supported Canton assets through a compatible sender. It is not a destination for an Ethereum, Solana or other network transfer.

A linked external wallet can be part of your account access. Linking it does not bridge its assets to Canton or make all of its networks available in Wallet.

Identify an asset

DetailWhat it tells you
Name and tickerThe label used to display the asset
NetworkWhere the asset and transfer exist
Instrument IDThe token identifier used by Canton integrations
Instrument administratorThe party that identifies the token's administration

For Canton token integrations, the instrument ID and administrator identify the instrument together. A ticker by itself is not a sufficient identity check.

Canton Coin appears as CC in the app. SDK and API data may identify it as Amulet. This is the technical identifier for the same network asset, not a second balance.

Total and available amounts

An account can hold amounts that are locked by a pending transfer. A total balance can therefore differ from the amount available for a new payment.

Check Pending when the amount you can send is lower than expected. Also allow for the CC fee shown in the transaction review.

Display values

A currency value is an estimate based on price data. The token quantity is the amount held or transferred. A missing price does not by itself mean that the token balance is zero.

Price changes can move the displayed portfolio value without a transfer taking place. Use Activity to distinguish a balance movement from a change in valuation.

Supported actions

Use the current Wallet asset list and action controls as the guide to availability. Receive, send and swap support are separate capabilities; do not infer one from another.

Development and test environments are also separate from production. Always match the destination network and Party ID before funding an account. See receiving assets.
